the start of quarantine has been tough for a lot of us, and this song pretty much captures my thoughts and headspace during that time. its about wanting to fast forward through the phases of rough patches to a time when things are better. there's definitely more that one can take from this, but i will leave that up to you. to me, this song is a staple in time that i want to give others the opportunity to hear, so i hope you like it.
special thanks to Nathan, Phoenix, Patricia, and Nicolas for helping me film this. you guys really helped my vision come to life and i appreciate you all for the amount of effort you put in.
additional thanks to Junior, Faith, and Isaiah for helping me out with the song.
and of course, thank you Phoenix and Ajani for solving time travel. too bad i wasn't there to witness it.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Bar stools, tables, water bottles
Let's find ways to make a time machine
Fly so high see everything
We fly so fast I start to suffocate
Don’t let these words go unsaid
Days will turn to years instead
What I can’t have I can’t hide
Yet I can’t help but wonder why
How can I laugh I can’t speak
Words that you said never leave
When will I let visions die
‘Cause if I want I can fly
(Clear as day say everything
Your eyes will haunt me as I fall asleep
I can see your eyelids, heavy
One last chance to tell you about my dream
Dreams are plenty, hearts are empty
We’ll find ways to make this worth the wait
Don’t stop now, my ears will bleed
You know that silence cuts through like a knife)
Years can be days if we tried
No matter what words we fight
We can’t prove wrong what is right
Yet I can’t help but wonder why
How can I laugh I can’t speak
Words that you said never leave
When will I let visions die
‘Cause if I want I can fly
(Clear as day say everything
Your eyes will haunt me as I fall asleep
I can see your eyelids, heavy
One last chance to tell you about my dream
Dreams are plenty, hearts are empty
We’ll find ways to make this worth the wait
Don’t stop now, my ears will bleed
You know that silence cuts through like a knife)
(Fly away)
